This exquisite catalytic lamp is part of the iconic 'Les Amours de Fragonard' collection, a mid-century collaboration between Lampe Berger Paris and the historic Revol porcelain works of Limoges, France. The body is finished in prestigious Bleu de Four cobalt, fired at high heat to achieve its famous depth, and adorned with a 22K gold-gilt rocaille border. The central scene depicts a classic Fragonard romantic pastoral, making this a quintessential example of French Rococo Revival luxury.

Provenance & Care: Revol Limoges "Les Amours" Edition

Historical Provenance

This Lampe Berger is an authentic mid-century collaboration (circa 1950s–1960s) between the house of Berger Paris and the Revol Porcelain Factory in Limoges, France. It belongs to the prestigious "Les Amours de Fragonard" series, celebrating the romantic Rococo works of 18th-century painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard. The deep "Bleu de Four" (Oven Blue) finish and hand-applied 22K gold accents represent the pinnacle of post-WWII French luxury export.

Preservation & Cleaning Guide

• The 22K Gold Gilt: The gold scrollwork is genuine 22K gold leaf fired onto the glaze.

• NEVER use abrasive sponges, silver polish, or chemical cleaners on the gold.

• TO CLEAN: Simply wipe with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. If there is sticky residue, use a damp cloth with a drop of mild, pH-neutral dish soap, then dry immediately.

• The Cobalt Glaze: The "Bleu de Four" glaze is highly durable but can show fingerprints easily. A quick buff with a clean cloth will restore its "bottomless" mirror depth.

• The Metal Crown: The gold-tone open-work crown is likely nickel-plated. If it becomes dull, use a dedicated jewelry polishing cloth (like a Sunshine cloth) rather than liquid dips, which could drip onto and damage the porcelain.

Operational Safety for Collectors

• Fragrance Choice: To protect the integrity of the vintage porcelain, use only authentic Maison Berger (Lampe Berger) branded fuel. Cheaper "aroma oils" can contain additives that may eventually stain the interior of the porous white porcelain.

• Heat Management: When lighting the catalytic stone, ensure the flame does not touch the gold-gilt rim of the bottle. Only let the flame burn for the recommended 2 minutes before blowing it out.

• Storage: If displaying as a decorative object without fuel, ensure the solid snuffer cap is securely in place to prevent dust from settling inside the bottle, which can clog the catalytic stone over time.

Excellent vintage condition; 22K gold gilt borders are remarkably intact with minimal to no rubbing, retaining their original mid-century luster."
